Mertens V Giorgi - Mertens leads the head to head 2-1 and on outdoor hard courts it is tied at 1-1. There have very similar win loss records on hard courts, Giorgi is a player who can blow hot and cold during a match but she does have the power to be able to hit through Mertens who will rely more on her variety to cause Giorgi problems. Looks a tough match to call but I am looking at laying Giorgi if she hits around 1.50
Anisimova V Pliskova - Pliskova leads the head to head 4-1 all on outdoor had courts with Anisimova winning last week in San Jose over three sets. Pliskova has a very good serve when it is working and this can keep her competitive in matches but no doubt Anisimova is the better player here reaching the QF at Wimbledon and San Jose, Pliskova has looked short of confidence lately but did appear to be playing a little better in her first round victory in straight sets against Krejcikova. I am looking at backing Anisimova for the win here but need above 2.10 before getting involved.
