WTA AUSTRALIAN OPEN DAY 2/3

KALINSKAYA TO BEAT GIORGI @ 3-1

Giorgi very inconsistent as she is so attacking and I am happy to oppose her at odds on against a confident young opponent with no fear as if she has a day slightly below her best she has no plan B and her unforced error count could be so high.

DAVIS TO BEAT CEPELOVA @ 5-4

Davis is similar to Gibbs in that she is a safe, consistent player and against Cepelova who is far happier on clay her consistently should prove too strong.

VIKHLYANTSEVA TO BEAT TSURENKO @ 7-4

MERTENS TO BEAT GAVRILOVA @  EVENS

Mertens leads the head to head 2-1. Mertens has won her last 8 matches and a wonderful win loss record on 124-48 she had a great  last 2 years and has carried that on at the start of this season.

GIBBS TO BEAT BERTENS @ 12-5

Head to head is tied 1-1, Bertens can struggle on hard courts as she is far happier on clay, Gibbs is a very consistent if unspectacular player and she can struggle about real power players but Bertens does not have the power to be able to dismantle her and I think Gibbs consistency will win through here.

FLIPKENS TO BEAT RYBRIAKOVA @ 6-4

Rybriakova leads the head to head 4-3, this should be an intriguing match as both players are happy at the net, play with great variation but I have to favour Flipkens here as the head to head shows how equal they are so to be getting 6-4 is great value and it is not on grass which is Rybriakova’s favoured surface.

MARTIC TO BEAT BEGU @ 11-10

Martic leads the head to head 1-0. Martic has a brilliant slice backhand and this can cause her opponents problems as the balls keeps very low. Both players more at home on clay but both decent on serve but Martic has the better all round game
