US Open 2016

30/08/2016

NAO HIBINO TO BEAT KRISTINA MLADENOVIC @ 12-5 (BETFAIR)  1 Pt Win

Respective win/loss records on hard courts read Hibino 30-26 with Mladenov 15-17. Out of her last 6 tournaments, Mladenovic has lost first round in three of them and is not in good form at all. Hibino has lost her first match just once in her last six at Cincinatti. Mladenovic has a good serve and is excellent at the net due to her double’s skills but I expect Hibino to be too consistent for her today.

EKATERINA MAKAROVA TO BEAT SEREANA WILLIAMS @ 9-2 (BET 365, STANJAMES) 1 Pt Win

The statistics obviously favour Serena as she has been the best player in the world for a number of years but my worry is her lack of competitive matches, only players three since Wimbledon and she lost one of those in straight sets against Svitolinaat Rio. People may point to her winning Wimbledon without any warm-up matches but her draw was easy she did not face a top 50 player until her third match and then it was Beck, so she was able to ease her way into the tournament but she will not be able to do that here against Makarova has reached the  QF and SF here and not lost in the first round since 2011 where she was defeated by Vesnina

WILLIAMS        80%                  45.6%

MAKAROVA        72.3%                36%

NADIA PODOROSKA TO BEAT ANNIKA BECK @ 4-1 (BETVICTOR)

Records on hard court are vastly different with Beck 13-13 and Podoroska 25-11, Beck is always vulnerable with her serve a real Achille's heel for her and her second serve amongst the worst on tour. Although Podoroska is more at home on clay she has still showed here she is comfortable on the hard courts having come through qualifying and beating decent players in Vekic, Jaksc and Dodin.

                        SERVICE HOLD        SERVICE BREAK

PODOROSKA       67.6%                43.9%

BECK            57.5%                42.6%

ANA KONJUH TO BEAT KIKI BERTENS @ 6-5 (BETVICTOR)

Bertens leads the head to head 1-0 having won in straight sets earlier this season. Records on hard courts are quite a similar win ration with Betrens 23-15 and Konjuh 19-14 but the part which stands out is their recent form.Bertens has lost all her four matches she has played since reaching the final at Gstaad where as Konjuh has been playing better and better recently with a run to the last 16 last week at New Haven perfect preparation.

                SERVICE HOLD        SERVICE BREAK

KONJUH          66.6%               33.2%

BERTENS         69%                 37.3%

NICOLE GIBBS TO BEAT ALEKSANDRA KRUNIC @ 5-6 (BETVICTOR)

Gibbs win-loss record on hard court over last 12 month is 44-17 compared to Krunic 5-7, Krunic has looked ok in getting through qualifying but I feel Gibbs consistency will prove too much today and strongly fancy her to come through here in straight sets.

                SERVICE HOLD        SERVICE BREAK

GIBBS           69.7%                42.9%

KRUNIC          59.3%                26.7%

ANTONIO LOTTNER TO BEAT VANIA KING @ 9-5 (BETVICTOR)

Win-loss record on hard courts are Lottner 9-5 King 28-15, Lottner is playing with such confidence at the minute it showed in her qualifying matches here where she defeated three players all ranked above here. Before this, she hoovered up the lesser tournaments on clay winning Prague and Versmold back to back and that has snowballed her confidence. King has been playing well but looking closely at her results they have basically been the same standard as Lottner with her last tournament where she reached the final at Nanchang she did not play one player ranked inside the TOP 100.

PODOROSKA    4-1
GIBBS         5-6
KONJUH     6-5
